Battened floors: These are floors that rest on pre-leveled battens made of wood or other material. The battens can be mechanically or chemically fixed to the existing substrate or, together with the flooring, form a floating installation. Generally, the flooring is mechanically fixed to the battens (nails, screws, staples, etc.).
This type of flooring solves the problem of leveling floors and allows for a clean, quick, and stable installation.
Underneath the battened floor and between the battens, utilities (water, electricity, IT) and even insulation fibers (thermal and/or acoustic) can be installed. Sometimes, a moisture-resistant membrane is installed under the battens. A typical example of this type of flooring is traditional wood flooring.
